Bayern keep Olise as Real Madrid bid fizzles amid 2026 World Cup hype
Michael Olise will remain at Bayern de Munique after a Real Madrid transfer bid collapsed, the 24‑year‑old French winger having asked for a meeting with the German club’s board in late June but staying as the summer window closed.
Olise opened the new Bundesliga campaign in fine form, contributing three goals and an assist across his first four appearances. The statistics underline his importance in Bayern’s attacking trio, which continued the prolific output recorded last season. The only blemish came in a goalless draw away to Schalke 04.
Bayern’s management has not ruled out a future departure, but the club’s contract with Olise runs until June 2029. CEO Jan‑Christian Dreesen warned that promises about the player’s future are delicate and that the issue will be revisited in the next transfer window.
Why Bayern kept Olise
“The future of Michael Olise? In this business, making promises is risky. We will talk about it again in the next market,” Dreesen told reporters. He also dismissed rumours of dozens of offers, stating that the club had received none.
Se, the club’s sporting director, declined to comment further on the speculation surrounding the winger.
Real Madrid’s stalled pursuit
During the Copa del Mundo 2026, Olise’s performances for Bayern attracted intense scrutiny from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants monitored him closely, as reported by, but their plans were complicated by the €145 million signing of Yan Diomande.
Real also secured a long‑term deal for Vinícius Junior until June 2032 and already field a forward line featuring Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham under José Mourinho. Adding another attacker risked upsetting the squad balance, leaving little room for Olise.
Should Olise decide to leave in 2027, the Premier League and Paris Saint‑Germain have been mentioned as potential destinations. For Bayern, retaining a player under contract until 2029 preserves an asset that could fetch a substantial fee later, while the winger continues to build his reputation in Germany.
