Bayern breaks long‑standing contract rule for 33‑year‑old Kane

At FC Bayern Munich a contract extension with Harry Kane is taking shape. The 33‑year‑old Englishman is set to stay until at least 2029, with Karl‑Heinz Rummenigge ready to break the long‑standing principle for players over thirty years. Negotiations are already underway.

Kane's current contract runs until the summer of 2027, but talks about an extension are already underway. Rummenigge, a member of the supervisory board, is confident that both sides will reach an agreement.

Rummenigge breaks principle for 33‑year‑old striker

"Harry's brother and his father are currently negotiating with Jan‑Christian Dreesen. I am optimistic that they will find a good solution," Karl‑Heinz Rummenigge told the Abendzeitung. The board thus emphasizes the close cooperation between the negotiating parties.

Rummenigge had so far a clear line: players over thirty receive only one‑year contracts. For Kane, who according to Rummenigge is physically fit and not prone to injuries, he wants to relax this rule as an exception.

Kane confirms progress in negotiations

The English international himself confirmed that the talks are going well: "The talks are going well. I am very open and honest about it. We are still in talks and I think they are developing in the right direction," he said.

The exact length of the new contract remains open. According to Rummenigge, options for an extension until 2029 or even 2030 are being discussed, and rumours are circulating about a possible exit clause.

Kane emphasizes that there is no time pressure and a decision is expected within the next month. He describes the situation as relaxed and looks forward to a good agreement.

A photo of Manuel Neuer and Harry Kane illustrates the already existing collaboration. Rummenigge sees the striker's physical condition and his low injury susceptibility as the basis for a long‑term partnership with Bayern.
