Bayern‑boss Hoeneß stunned as Musiala collapses twice in days

Bayern-baas Uli Hoeneß said he was speechless after 23-year-old midfielder Jamal Musiala collapsed twice within four days during Bayern Munich’s recent friendlies – first in the home game against RB Leipzig last Saturday and again a few days later against Heidenheim.

The 23‑year‑old Duits international was able to rise unaided and, under the guidance of medical personnel, walk to the locker room after each collapse. Both incidents occurred during Der Rekordmeister’s training matches.

Medical diagnosis and reaction

"Dat het vier dagen later weer gebeurde, dat schokte me echt," said München-voorzitter Uli Hoeneß, the Bayern-baas. "Ik was sprakeloos, wat vrij zeldzaam is voor mij," he added. He made the comments in an interview with the Duitse media.

"Allereest wil ik zeggen dat het goed met me gaat. Ik begrijp dat velen van jullie zich zorgen maken. Ik wil daar graag op ingaan en iets uitleggen," Musiala wrote on social media, reassuring fans of his condition.

He later clarified that doctors diagnosed a temporary, short‑lived but treatable absence syndrome caused by a neurological condition. De club’s medical team confirmed the syndrome can trigger sudden fainting episodes.

Musiala had previously explained that such a neurological issue could lead to medical situations like those experienced against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim. The recurrence four days later underscored the seriousness of the condition.

Hoene noted that such episodes are rare for the German top club and will prompt a review of health monitoring protocols. The incident highlights the importance of swift medical response in elite football.
