Bayern boss Dreesen mocks Dortmund's ambition at the Oktoberfest
After the 7‑0 thrashing of Union Berlin, FC Bayern Munich appeared in great spirits at the Oktoberfest, where Bayern boss Jan‑Christian Dreesen commented on the current league situation. At the same time, Borussia Dortmund celebrated the top spot in the Bundesliga after the 1‑0 win over VfB Stuttgart.
Bayern celebrates after 7‑0 win
After the 7‑0 thrashing of Union Berlin, Bayern Munich headed to the Oktoberfest in high spirits. The players enjoyed the Bavarian folk festival, while the media praised the dominant performance.
A 0‑0 draw at FC Schalke, however, left Bayern trailing the BVB by two points. Despite this deficit, the management emphasized that the early league configuration in Munich should not be overestimated.
Dortmund leads the table
After the 1‑0 victory over VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund currently occupies the top of the Bundesliga table. The win gave the BVB the lead it had not been able to achieve after the previous two seasons, when it lagged by 25 and 16 points respectively.
So far, the BVB has impressed with a rock‑solid defence and a decent attacking play, led by the in‑form Serhou Guirassy. This combination makes the competition for Bayern appear tighter.
Dreesen and Ricken in a clash of words
"We are completely relaxed, it’s wonderful. Everyone always writes that the league is boring, I can’t see that," said Bayern boss Jan‑Christian Dreesen on the sidelines of the lively celebrations.
"We are Dortmund’s pursuer and we will chase them!," Dreesen continued. In response, BVB boss Lars Ricken said: "For Bayern we also want to be challenging. Sometimes it’s also about teasing Bayern a bit, because they are not yet where they see themselves."
Bayern Munich will rarely allow slip‑ups like at Schalke and has the potential to play another dominant season under Vincent Kompany. Accordingly for the BVB: anyone who wants to challenge for the title must complete their homework almost flawlessly.
