Bastian Schweinsteiger criticizes DFB team after defeat

Bastian Schweinsteiger, who accompanies the DFB team as an ARD expert, delivered a harsh verdict after the 0:1 defeat to Greece. He said Germany is no longer a top team, but has settled into mediocrity, and put his finger on the wound. The analysis took place in a conversation with presenter Esther Sedlaczek, who criticized the result.

Schweinsteiger's Analysis of the Situation

Following the final whistle, Schweinsteiger analyzed the situation of the DFB team in clear terms. He said: “We are no longer a top team, we have arrived at mediocrity.” The former professional player emphasized that the team had not generated enough pressure.

The match was the second international fixture under the new national coach and marked the first defeat against the Southeast Europeans. On Sunday evening Germany lost 0:1, a result that is described as a historic defeat.

Lack of Cutting Power and Possible Solutions

Schweinsteiger missed players who make the difference, and named Konstantinos Karetsas, Christos Tzolis and Vangelis Pavlidis as role models in the Greek team. As a possible candidate in the German squad he mentioned Karim Adeyemi, who had started strongly at Barcelona.
