Barry calls Kane the best scorer he has ever seen
Anthony Barry, former co‑assistant of FC Bayern Munich, praised striker Harry Kane in the highest terms. He stated that Kane is the best goal‑scorer he has ever worked with – even better than Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he knows from his time with the Portuguese national team.
"He is the best goal‑scorer I have ever worked with," said the assistant of Thomas Tuchel. Barry emphasized that he had made the same statement already during his time at FCB. "And that from all the great scorers I have ever worked with, including Cristiano and all those players," he added.
Joint Work with Thomas Tuchel
Barry was an assistant to Thomas Tuchel, both at FC Bayern Munich and at FCB. In this role he got to know Cristiano Ronaldo when he was working for Roberto Martinez in the Portuguese national team. Since January 2025 he has also been part of the English team, where he works closely with the national side.
Ballon d’Or Debate
Kane is considered this year as one of the top favorites for the Ballon d’Or, whose ceremony takes place on 26 October. While one report names Paris as the venue, another mentions London as the location. The award is regarded as a recognition for the best player of the previous season.
Kane’s Impressive Statistics
In the current Bundesliga season Kane has scored six goals and provided two assists in seven league matches for the Munich side. He transferred from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of €95 million. Since his move he has claimed the top scorer’s crown in every game. With his 100th goal he reached the record target already in the 98th Bundesliga match, which ended 7‑0 against Union Berlin.
According to a report Kane has scored 73 goals in 65 games for Bayern and the English national team, only surpassed by Lionel Messi with 82 goals in 69 games (season 2011/12). He won the Golden Shoe award and remains one of the favorites for the Ballon d’Or. Alongside Kane, Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona and Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid are also mentioned as possible winners.
The 33‑year‑old striker has been captain of the English national team since 2018 and is praised for his daily commitment and versatility. In the technical team, briefly called Mart, he works closely with Barry, while talks about a contract extension beyond June 2027 are ongoing. This kind of praise is rare in German football, and his professional conduct serves as an inspiration for the whole team.
