Barcelona weigh Kounde sale as Chelsea and Bayern circle

Barcelona are not ruling out selling 27‑year‑old French defender Jules Kounde to raise funds for new signings, while Chelsea have already begun examining a possible move and Tottenham right‑back Pedro Porro is being touted as a replacement. According to SPORT the club sees the sale as a way to finance further reinforcements.
Chelsea and Bayern show interest
Chelsea have made enquiries about Kounde and are assessing the financial conditions of a possible transfer. At the same time Bayern Munich have also shown interest, putting the defender’s future at Barcelona under scrutiny.
Kounde’s position at Barcelona has become less secure after Eric Garcia was converted into a right‑back and academy prospect Xavi Espart has emerged, increasing competition for places. The club’s interest in other players has further limited his opportunities. So far this season the Frenchman, who is currently injured, has started only five matches.
Although his contract runs until 2030, his reduced prominence has attracted attention from several major European clubs. Barcelona could consider a sale to generate funds for other priorities, including signing a new centre‑back, but Kounde still has a chance to regain his place, meaning a departure is not yet inevitable.
As of today Chelsea are reportedly studying the financial requirements of a potential deal, though an enquiry does not necessarily mean an offer will be made. Any transfer would depend on the fee involved and Barcelona’s ability to secure a suitable replacement.
Barcelona have Pedro Porro on their radar if Kounde leaves, and the Tottenham right‑back has renewed his contract until 2031 while expressing a desire to return to Spanish football. Barcelona and Real Madrid have both made enquiries about his situation, and club president Joan Laporta is understood to be an admirer. However Tottenham are expected to demand more than €60 million for the 27‑year‑old, making any move financially challenging. Kounde’s experience and contract situation also mean Barcelona must weigh the financial benefits against the impact of losing an established defender.
