Barcelona looks to ease wage bill by selling Araujo and Stegen

Barcelona needs to free up economic and wage space before returning to Montjuic, in September, and the two names that appear as first exits are Ronald Araujo and Marc‑Andre ter Stegen, according to Diario Sport. The Catalan club has already offloaded several players in the last window and expects further departures for the summer of 2027.

Exit of Araujo and Stegen

Barcelona dismissed several players in the last summer window and is already working on new departures for 2027. According to Diario Sport, the first two names that could leave are Ronald Araujo and Marc‑Andre ter Stegen.

Araujo has had a brilliant start in the Premier League with the Liverpool Reds. The English club hopes to sign him permanently at the end of the season for around €55 million.

Barcelona also wants to part with Ter Stegen to lighten its wage bill. The goalkeeper is on loan at Ajax and has been called up again to the German national team, which opens the door to a permanent sale next summer.

With the return to Montjuic scheduled for the first half of the next season, the club is aware that it will need income to strengthen the squad in the transfer window.

Ferran Olive, the club's financial vice‑president, has stated that players must leave if Barcelona wants to bring in new faces in January.
