Barcelona lead Pedro Porro's £39m exit quest as Real Madrid linger
Pedro Porro, the 27‑year‑old Tottenham Hotspur right‑back, is set to leave the Premier League club after reports say he has narrowed his next destination to Barcelona, with Real Madrid also in contention.
Porro's rise at Tottenham
The Portuguese international joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon at the start of 2023, a deal that cost the club around £39m. Since then he has been hailed as one of the best right‑backs in Europe, bolstering his reputation with a standout performance for Spain at the summer World Cup.
Transfer saga intensifies
Spanish outlet Cadena Ser claims Barcelona is Porro's "first choice" for his next move, although Real Madrid "see a possibility" of signing him. As Pacojó Delgado explained on SER radio, "If Real Madrid comes calling, knowing that Trent Alexander‑Arnold isn’t convincing at full‑back, there might be an option," he said.
Tottenham have struggled with several signings in recent seasons, yet Porro’s development has stood out among the squad. His teammate Matheus Fernandes, also a Tottenham Hotspur player, remains at the club as the transfer window looms.
The potential departure would be a blow for the Spurs, especially after the summer exit of Brighton‑newbie Luka Vuskovic, who was signed following the acquisition of Jan Paul van Hecke from Premier League rivals.
