Barcelona eye Premier League teen as Chelsea and Liverpool join chase

Barcelona have entered the race for Fulham’s 19‑year‑old midfielder Josh King, while Chelsea and Liverpool are also reported to be watching the Premier League prospect closely, giants’ interest is described as cautious scouting rather than an imminent bid.

Barça scouts have observed King on several occasions throughout the 2026/27 campaign, according to the report. Their assessment highlights his performances as particularly impressive for a player of his age.

King is a product of Fulham’s youth academy and made his senior debut in 2024. Since then he has amassed 55 first‑team appearances for the Cottagers.

In the current season he has featured in five Premier League matches, scoring twice. He also contributed an assist in his sole Carabao Cup appearance and has added a goal in nine England U‑21 caps.

Fulham's early-season struggles

Fulham have struggled in the opening weeks, yet King has emerged as one of the side’s standout performers. His early impact underscores his growing reputation.

Beyond Barcelona, a host of European clubs are monitoring the midfielder, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are said to show the strongest interest and could contemplate an offer next summer.

Barcelona's cautious approach

King is contracted to Fulham until 2029 and is valued at roughly €60 million. Barcelona are not prepared to meet that price in either the January window or the following summer, and no direct contact has been reported.

The Catalan side appears focused on evaluating King’s development rather than launching an immediate transfer. The approach aligns with Barça’s strategy of targeting young talent while respecting financial limits, leaving the question of how far the English prospect can progress.
