Barcelona eye Champions midfielder Angelo Stiller after MVP signing

Barcelona have placed German midfielder Angelo Stiller firmly on their radar after his standout displays in the Champions League with VfB Stuttgart, a move that comes on the back of the club’s recent acquisition of World Cup (Mundial) MVP Rodri and signals an intent to strengthen the midfield. Periodista Deportivo reported that Stiller has re‑emerged as a key figure for Stuttgart.

Stiller’s profile

The 25‑year‑old is contracted to Stuttgart until June 2028, and the German club could command roughly €50 million for his departure. His agent confirmed the long‑term deal earlier this year.

Stiller has amassed 128 Bundesliga appearances, scoring seven goals and providing 17 assists, and he lifted the German Cup in 2025, one of the twelve trophies in Stuttgart’s history.

His Champions League debut proved decisive when Stuttgart beat Norwegian side Viking 3‑1, with Stiller orchestrating play and delivering the assist for the third goal, while Ermedin Demirovic completed a hat‑trick.

Barça’s scouting report praises his ability to receive the ball under pressure, switch the point of attack and sustain possession – qualities that complement the roles of Rodri and Frenkie de Jong in the midfield.

Former Germany manager Hansi Flick, now a trusted adviser for Barcelona, has publicly endorsed special monitoring of the midfielder, adding weight to the club’s pursuit.

Real Madrid and Arsenal are also tracking Stiller, meaning the competition for his signature extends beyond Barcelona.

Injury update

Last weekend Stiller suffered a knee blow in Stuttgart’s 2‑1 loss to Hoffenheim, forcing his exit in the 34th minute. Initial scans ruled out a serious injury, diagnosing only a contusion and a small hematoma, as confirmed by coach Sebastian Hoeneß.

Stuttgart later described his situation as “luck within the misfortune” but gave no timetable for his return, leaving the midfielder’s availability uncertain.
