Barcellona clinches the 2029 Champions League final at the new Camp Nou
On Tuesday afternoon, in the meeting room of UEFA’s Executive Committee in Thessaloniki, the selection of Barcelona’s new Spotify Camp Nou as the venue for the 2029 Champions League final was announced, a news that sparked the enthusiasm of Joan Laporta and the blaugrana fans.
Blaugrana president Joan Laporta did not hide his enthusiasm, telling the club’s media: “It is an immense pride for Barcelona and for all the blaugrana fans.”
Works in progress
The renovation works of the new facility will be completed at the beginning of 2028, with the roof to be installed in the summer of 2027, providing Camp Nou with the most modern facilities to host the event.
History of great finals
This selection marks the third time that the blaugrana stadium hosts the Champions Cup final, after the editions of 1989, won by Milan, and 1999, won by Manchester United.
Barcelona reach major Camp Nou milestone as roof frame takes shape
The decision comes in a context of now relaxed relations between Barcelona and UEFA, mended by Laporta himself together with president Aleksander Ceferin after the definitive abandonment of the Super League project.
Laporta thanked the Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the RFEF for their support, emphasizing that the final is set for Saturday 2 June 2029.
With this choice, UEFA internationally recognises the new Spotify Camp Nou as a global icon, consolidating its position as a benchmark stadium for experience, technology, connectivity, accessibility and services.
