Baouf's La Liga move stalls as Rayo Vallecano pulls back
Thirty appearances and six goals last season in Leeuwarden highlighted Ismaël Baouf’s rise, prompting La Liga interest that seemed to promise a step up for the Moroccan defender of SC Cambuur. Vandaag the Spanish side Rayo Vallecano announced it had temporarily let the transfer slip.
Africafoot reported that Rayo Vallecano has let the interest in Baouf fall away for now, signalling a pause in negotiations.
The Spanish club had been seriously interested in the Cambuur defender, but talks over a move collapsed, leaving the deal stalled.
Baouf, a Marokkaanse centre‑back, arrived from RSCA Futures and featured in thirty matches across all competitions, netting six times and emerging as one of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie’s most eye‑catching talents.
His performances in Leeuwarden attracted attention beyond the Netherlands, yet he turned down concrete offers from Red Star FC and the Saudi side Al Nassr, insisting he aims for the highest European level.
Although Rayo Vallecano is not proceeding at present, Baouf’s future remains uncertain; Africafoot notes several European clubs continue to monitor the Cambuur defender closely.
De report also underlines that his ambition to join La Liga persists despite the current setback.
