Ballon d’Or sees Kylian Mbappé leading the poll with 34.2% of the votes
In the offices of L’Equipe, readers were invited this Monday to choose the future winners of the Ballon d’Or. The interactive poll puts Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé at the top with thirty‑four point two % of the votes.
A poll that puts Mbappé in front
L’Equipe launched this poll to gauge supporters’ opinion before the official ceremony. Participants had to name the candidates for the various trophies awarded during the Ballon d’Or.
In this context, Kylian Mbappé has multiplied his media appearances to promote his candidacy. He believes he has been the best player of the season, being the top scorer of the World Cup, the Champions League and La Liga, despite a collectively blank season.
The poll result shows Mbappé leading with 34.2 % of the votes. He is ahead of Parisian captain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who gathers 24.3 %, and Bavarian Harry Kane, at 8.6 %.
These figures remain predictions; the official winner will be announced on Monday 26 October in London. The jury votes of one hundred journalists were closed on 28 September.
The final result remains secret, entrusted to the editor-in-chief of France Football, Vincent Garcia, until the ceremony.
