Atlético train without Sorloth, Julian more active before Anfield
Atlético de Madrid trained this Monday 7 September in Majadahonda at 11 a.m., preparing for Wednesday's visit to Anfield where they will face Liverpool in the first matchday of the Champions League group stage.
Sorloth absent due to injury
Alexander Sorloth was the only absentee at training; the Norwegian striker has been out for almost a month following a muscle strain he suffered before the start of the LaLiga season, according to the club's medical report. The report, written by Javier Gómara of Atleti, confirms his injury layoff.
Otherwise, the routine was completely normal, with Julián Alvarez training alongside the players who were not starters on Saturday at San Mamés.
The Argentine participated in light drills on the grass, gave instructions to his teammates and, after finishing, headed to the gym to continue preparation.
At the end of the session, Alvarez stayed for a while with fitness coach Luis Piñedo, performing resistance and speed series so that La Araña can keep fine‑tuning his condition before the clash at Anfield.
The red‑and‑white side arrives at Anfield intending to start the Champions League group stage on a good foot.
