Aston Villa Submit €70m for Chelsea Star Forward Nicolas Jackson
Aston Villa have submitted a €70 million bid to sign Senegalese international striker Nicolas Jackson from Premier League rivals Chelsea, according to a report on Tuesday from Foot Mercato via Yahoo Sports. The Birmingham-based club hope the deal will boost their attack.
Why Villa target Jackson
Villa have been forced to rebuild after losing key performers Lucas Digne, Ezri Konsa, Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers this summer. A 4‑0 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League opener has heightened the urgency to add a proven goal‑scorer.
Jackson spent last season on loan at FC Bayern Munich, where he recorded 11 goals and four assists in 34 games. His contributions in Germany demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level.
He arrived at Chelsea from Villarreal three years ago and is tied to a long‑term contract with the Blues. Not part of Xabi Alonso’s plans for the season, Jackson has already netted 30 goals in 81 appearances for the club.
Unai Emery’s side must act before the summer window closes to fill the void left by the departures. The €70 million offer represents a significant investment for the Birmingham‑based club.
Foot Mercato adds that Crystal Palace rejected a €22 million bid from Villa for France international centre‑forward Jean‑Philippe Mateta. The rejection underscores Villa’s determination to secure Jackson as their primary target.
If the deal materialises, Villa would add a Senegalese star to rejuvenate their attack, while Chelsea could offload a player not featuring in Alonso’s plans. Personal terms with Jackson have yet to be agreed, leaving the transfer’s completion uncertain.
