ASSE Mercato: Boakye’s 10 M€ price forces Kilmer’s suitors to think
AS Saint‑Étienne are determined to retain 25‑year‑old Ghanaian winger Augustine Boakye this season, having fixed his transfer price at a minimum of €10 million. Despite interest from Belgian side Anderlecht, England’s Norwich City and Wales’ Wrexham, none have lodged an official bid, and Boakye has already started the Ligue 2 campaign with an assist against Sochaux.
Club officials said they set the 10 M€ tag to safeguard one of their most valued attacking assets. Kilmer Sports Ventures echoed the figure, indicating any suitor would need to exceed that amount to secure Boakye’s departure. The management confirmed no formal offers have been received despite the player’s rising profile.
European interest remains high
Anderlecht, Norwich City and Wrexham are listed among the European clubs keeping a close eye on the 25‑year‑old. Each club has been linked to the situation but, to date, none has submitted a concrete proposal to Saint‑Étienne.
Boakye started both of AS Saint‑Étienne’s opening Ligue 2 fixtures, cementing his role in Ian Cathro’s line‑up. He provided the decisive pass in the match against Sochaux, delivering an assist that helped the Verts secure a positive result.
Season stats and international rise
Over 36 league appearances he has scored six goals and created nine assists, underlining his offensive contribution. His form earned him a call‑up to the Ghana national team and a place in the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Boakye has expressed satisfaction with life at Saint‑Étienne and shows no immediate desire to leave the Forez region. Manager Ian Cathro has already granted him a prominent role, signalling the club’s intention to build around him.
The transfer window stays open through August, and the club warned that any interested party must be “particularly generous” to meet their valuation. Should a bid surpass the 10 M€ threshold, Saint‑Étienne may reconsider their stance before the market closes.
