Arsenal to lure Barcelona captain Raphinha with double salary
While the English champions FC Arsenal are already planning a fresh move to sign Barça captain Raphinha, the offer of a markedly higher salary contrasts with the obstacles of a potential transfer. Arsenal is reportedly set to offer the Brazilian a salary twice as high.
Winter wage bid
According to El Nacional, Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to double Raphinha's current salary at FC Barcelona. The bid comes in the winter, specifically during the January transfer window, to lure the Brazilian captain. The English champions, FC Arsenal, want to offer the Barcelona captain a salary markedly higher than his current contract.
Form, captaincy role and contractual hurdles
Raphinha is currently in strong form: in four league games he has scored six goals and set up another.
Moreover, the Brazilian has already been successful twice in the Champions League, underscoring his attacking prowess.
At the start of this season he was appointed Barcelona captain and plays a central role under Hansi Flick, while his contract with the Catalans runs until 2028.
A move still appears difficult, as a captain with a long-term contract rarely switches for double the salary.
FC Arsenal had already tried in the previous transfer window to sign a big offensive star, showing interest in Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez, but both moves fell through.
