Arsenal’s warm‑weather launch in Spain sets up Girona clash at Montilivi

Arsenal’s pre‑season campaign officially kicks off on Saturday in Spain as the Gunners face Segunda Division side Girona at Estadi Montilivi, a LIVE‑broadcasted friendly that offers fans their first public glimpse of Mikel Arteta’s squad since the Champions League final defeat.

Manager Mikel Arteta (Picture: Getty) leads the Gunners after a 3‑0 behind‑closed‑doors win over MK Dons last weekend. The victory offers fans their first chance to see the squad since the Champions League final defeat.

The 3‑0 victory over MK Dons was staged as a behind‑closed‑doors friendly. It took place before the squad jet‑off to Spain for a warm‑weather training camp.

Fans will now have their first live opportunity to watch Arteta’s side since the Champions League final defeat. The Gunners meet Girona at Estadi Montilivi in the Saturday friendly.

New summer signings Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier could both feature. Their inclusion adds fresh options to Arteta’s roster.

Returning from the World Cup, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes, Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz have resumed training. All four may be involved in the upcoming match.
