Arsenal hope Eze can start in Champions League despite injury

Eberechi Eze is expected to be available for Arsenal’s Champions League trip to Slavia Prague despite a minor injury, a photo by the player confirming his fitness. The Evening Standard reports the problem should not keep the England international out on Wednesday evening, with Eze tipped to start on the left of Arsenal’s attack.
Christos Tzolis has only recently returned from a hamstring problem and is unlikely to start twice in four days. There could also be a European milestone at stake for Eze. According to Arsenal’s official match preview he could become the first Englishman to score in three consecutive European Cup appearances for the club since Ray Kennedy, who netted in four successive games in the 1971/72 campaign.
The immediate priority is maintaining Arsenal’s unbeaten Champions League campaign against a Slavia side in strong domestic form. Slavia Prague are seven points clear in the Czech league after thirteen matches and beat Jablonec 5-0 away on Saturday. Their European campaign has been less productive, with just one point from their opening three league‑phase fixtures.
