Arsenal gamble £85m to outbid Real Madrid for Juventus star
Arsenal have identified a clear gap on the left flank after the summer exits of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, and they see 21‑year‑old Kenan Yildiz as the ideal replacement. Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly preparing a €100million (£85m) offer that would outstrip Real Madrid’s renewed interest.
Why Yildiz fits Arsenal’s rebuild
Yildiz, the Turkish international, is one of the few remaining superstars in Serie A and won the Golden Boy Web award in 2024. He has become Juventus’s best and most valuable player, capable of delivering 30‑yard wonderstrikes and cutting through defences with devastating dribbles.
Operating as a left winger or second striker, Yildiz would give Arsenal a versatile attacking spark and push Christos Tzolis down the pecking order. Arteta has hinted that the winger could become his new first‑choice on the left after the departures.
Transfer dynamics and Juventus’ stance
Juventus tied Yildiz to a contract until June 2030 in February, yet speculation persists. The club would need at least €100m/£85m, a fee they say would allow them to sign two attackers as replacements.
According to Corriere dello Sport, failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League would raise the likelihood of Yildiz leaving. Juventus currently sit seventh in Serie A on 10 points after five matches, and they have no intention of selling in the January window, though a disappointing season could soften that stance.
Real Madrid, who first inquired under Xabi Alonso, have revived their interest, but Arsenal are described by as ‘ready to go crazy’ with a shock €100m offer. The Gunners also confirmed their interest on 20 August, initially considering a player‑plus‑cash deal involving Martinelli, who has since moved to Al‑Hilal.
Yildiz believes a move to a club like Arsenal or Madrid would give him the platform to chase future Ballon d’Or honours. Arsenal are simultaneously preparing an official bid for a Brazilian prospect, indicating a broader recruitment drive.
