Arsenal face €150 million hurdle to land left‑wing star after Alvarez saga
Arsenal must shell out close to €150 million (£128 million) to sign Juventus left‑winger Kenan Yildiz, a confirmed target on the left wing, after earlier attempts to sign Argentine striker Julian Alvarez fell through.
EPL News Arsenal’s Squad is the envy of all their Premier League rivals, especially in defence and midfield. David Raya is amongst the world’s best between the sticks, while when all are fit the likes of Ezri Konsa, Piero Hincapie, Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Zubimendi are bench players elsewhere. Each of that quartet would be guaranteed starters at virtually every other team in the league.
The Gunners are a little lighter in attack, and over the summer they hoped to make superstar‑calibre additions in the left wing and striker positions. Moves for Morgan Rogers, Kenan Yildiz, Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez did not succeed. Yet the club still sees a need to bolster the left side of the attack.
Recent reports say the Argentine has performed a U‑turn, now saying yes to joining the Premier League champions. Alvarez would play as the striker if signed, with Martin Odegaard pulling the strings as the most advanced midfielder and Bukayo Saka immoveable on the right.
Why Arsenal chase Yildiz
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal can go out and grab Kenan Yildiz from Juventus if they put a package touching €150 million on the table. Di Marzio added that proposals and requests for information arrived last summer from clubs such as Arsenal and Tottenham, but Juventus never considered them.
Insider Graeme Bailey reported Arsenal’s interest in Yildiz over the summer, while Juventus made it clear no deal was possible at that time. The Italian club’s stance could change after signing Kerim Alajbegović as Yildiz’s possible heir, and Di Marzio believes a nine‑figure fee – closer to €150 million than €110 million or €120 million – would be required.
What a Yildiz‑Alvarez double could mean
If Arsenal secure both Yildiz and Alvarez, their strongest starting eleven for the 2027/28 season would read: Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Odegaard, Rice, Lewis‑Skelly, Saka, Alvarez and Yildiz. That eleven would enter the conversation for the strongest starting eleven a Premier League side has ever fielded.
Such a lineup would cement the Gunners’ reputation as a squad capable of fielding world‑class talent across every position, while Juventus would stand to receive a nine‑figure fee that reflects Yildiz’s high valuation.
