Arsenal could sell Gyokeres if a good offer emerges

Inside Arsenal's north London training complex, manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are already weighing a sale of Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres, should a suitable offer materialise this summer. Former Tottenham Hotspur star Chris Waddle echoed the sentiment, noting the 28‑year‑old has netted 21 goals in 60 appearances for the Gunners.

Contract and achievements

Gyokeres arrived from Sporting CP in the summer of 2025 and signed a contract that runs until 2030, securing his long‑term future at the north London club. The Sweden international was part of the side that clinched the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final last season.

In his Arsenal career to date he has contributed 21 goals and three assists across 60 matches in all competitions, a respectable return for a striker still adapting to English football.

Waddle doubts and possible sale

Chris Waddle told Betpack that Gyokeres was a “surprising buy”, praising his prolific record at Sporting but questioning whether he can be a top Premier League performer. He added that the player thrived in a Portuguese league where his team dominated most games.

Waddle argued that the Premier League’s style does not suit Gyokeres, suggesting that a decent offer would prompt Arsenal to consider a move. He floated Everton or Newcastle as potential suitors, though he was not convinced either club could convince the striker to stay in England.

Waddle also weighed in on Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who joined Arsenal from Newcastle United in the summer of 2026. He said Guimaraes will need to fight for a regular place alongside Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard, noting the competition for midfield spots at the club.
