Argentine duo drive Como's historic Champions League debut

Como 1907 made a historic entry into the Champions League on Tuesday at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, with Argentine midfielder Nico Paz providing two assists and Máximo Perrone scoring as the Italian side beat Leipzig 4-1. Paz, wearing the number ten, started the match, while former Vélez player Perrone entered in the second half before finding the net.

Early dominance by Como

Martin Baturina opened the scoring and Anastasios Douvikas added a second, giving the Italian side a 2-0 lead at halftime. The first‑half advantage was built on quick passing and precise finishing from the home side.

In the second half, Assane Diao extended the lead after a well‑timed pass from Paz, making it 3-0. Later, Paz surged down the right wing, delivered a subtle touch to Perrone, who faced the goalkeeper one‑on‑one and sealed the 4-1 result.

Nico Paz, a Selección Argentina midfielder, started the game and wore the number ten shirt, highlighting his importance to the side. Máximo Perrone, the former Vélez forward, came on as a substitute and delivered the decisive goal.

Coach Demichelis and the historic debut

Leipzig entered the match under the guidance of Martín Demichelis, adding a German connection to the fixture. The encounter marked Como 1907’s first ever appearance in the Champions League, a milestone for the club.

Supporters filled the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia with chants of AL Por DE EN LA DEL as the team pressed forward, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the evening.
