Antwerp end five-game losing streak as Charleroi falter at Bosuil

Thibo Somers opened the scoring for Royal Antwerp FC within eight minutes at the Bosuil, volleying a centred ball past Mohamed Koné to give the visitors a 1‑0 lead and set the tone for the match.

Just after the half‑hour mark, a foul by Mardochee Nzita on Ibrahim Salah inside the box saw the referee point to the spot. Snayder Porozo stepped up and coolly converted the penalty, extending the lead to 2‑0 and putting the pressure squarely on the home side.

Charleroi’s chances slip away

Les Zèbres pressed for a reply, but Kevin Van Den Kerkhof saw his powerful strike crash against the right post in stoppage time of the first half. Earlier, Semm Renders had driven a ball towards the penalty spot, where Somers had already found the net, highlighting the visitors’ early dominance.

Second‑half surge and the final tally

Antwerp’s Rein van Helden rose highest on a right‑hand corner and headed home at 47 minutes, sealing a 3‑0 victory for the visitors and ending a sequence of five straight league defeats.

Late in the game, Adama Bojang delivered a low cross that Aurélien Scheidler met with a first‑time shot, only for goalkeeper Taishi Brandon Nozawa to parry. The rebound fell to Gaku Nawata, whose effort struck the cross‑bar before rolling out, providing Charleroi a fleeting glimpse of hope.

In the Pro League table, Sporting Charleroi (CHA) remain third with 21 points, their chance to seize the top spot evaporating after the loss. Royal Antwerp (ANT) climb to 11th place with ten points, their win halting a five‑match losing run. Fans were encouraged to add the club to their Google favourites, underscoring the growing online engagement.
