In his autobiography “Owning it”, published Thursday, Carroll says he debated for a long time with his publisher and his partner Lou Teasdale before including the chapter. He ultimately decided to speak to help other survivors.
According to the account, after a few drinks, he was woken under the sheets by the man who was trying to assault him. Carroll immediately threw him out, struck him when he tried to come back, and called the police as well as the nanny.
“Scary to even think about and only a few people knew about it before now,” he wrote. He adds that if his testimony helps even one person, it will have been worth it.
