Anderlecht eyes French left‑back Calodat as Ferry backup

In the Anderlecht training ground, scouts pore over the profile of a 24‑year‑old French left‑back, while manager Will Ferry’s name dominates the shortlist for the club’s left‑flank reinforcement.

Calodat on Anderlecht’s radar

RSC Anderlecht has, according to several sources, Lucas Calodat on its radar. The 24‑year‑old Fransman from Le Mans is listed as a possible option for the left‑back position, although he does not sit at the top of the club’s wish list at present.

Left‑flank reshuffle

Anderlecht’s purple‑white side is actively seeking reinforcement on the left flank because Ludwig Augustinsson, the Zweed, is being pushed towards an exit as he enters his final contract year. The club wants to free up space for a new left‑back.

Will Ferry remains, by all accounts, the first‑choice candidate for the role. Should that dossier fail to materialise, Anderlecht can switch its attention to Calodat as a fallback option.

Calodat is tied to Le Mans until 2028, meaning any transfer would not be a straightforward transaction for the Belgian club.

He joined Le Mans in the summer of 2024 after leaving GOAL FC, quickly establishing himself as a regular in a side that chased promotion to Ligue 1. The French defender featured in 35 matches across all competitions last season, 32 of them in Ligue 2, and found the net twice.

His profile matches that of a modern flank defender: capable as a left‑back, wing‑back, or even higher up the left side. Speed, stamina and a forward‑driving mindset are highlighted as attributes that suit clubs favouring attacking backs.

Le Mans also counts Red Devil Thibaut Courtois among its shareholders. Calodat’s youth training took place at AS Saint‑Étienne after spells at Sarcelles, Paris FC and Entente Sannois‑Saint‑Gratien. He made his Ligue 1 debut in November 2021 against Paris Saint‑Germain while at Saint‑Étienne. His market value is currently estimated at roughly €2.4‑2.5 million.

Other clubs monitoring the situation include PSV, FC Basel and Schalke 04, although none have initiated advanced discussions yet.
