Analyst Alexander Teklak condemns Vitor Bruno’s post‑win complacency at Anderlecht

Anderlecht secured three points, yet analyst Alexander Teklak questioned coach Vitor Bruno’s reaction, contrasting a narrow victory with a broader concern about the club’s direction. Teklak argued that the win did not erase the shortcomings displayed over 83 minutes of play.

Teklak’s criticism of post‑match remarks

Teklak, writing for La Dernière Heure, said Bruno’s comments after the match struck a discord between the trainer’s convictions and the result. He noted that the Portuguese coach seemed satisfied with the win, without adequately addressing the period when Anderlecht “hardly convinced” anyone. Voor the analyst, this attitude was unacceptable.

The analyst expected Bruno to explain why his side had been “powerless” for so long and what needed improvement. Instead, Teklak felt the coach’s statements were dismissive, reducing the problems to a mere footnote. He warned that a manager must articulate the reasons behind a poor performance, not gloss over them.

Deeper doubts about the club’s philosophy

Teklak also compared Bruno’s proclaimed football philosophy with the actual style that delivered the three points. He argued that the victory stemmed from “direct and poorly structured” play rather than the vision the Portuguese touted. Consequently, the analyst sees no proof that Anderlecht’s sporting project is progressing.

Bruno had previously claimed he would sign immediately if Anderlecht won the league with such football, yet he also said the domestic title was not the immediate objective. Teklak found this combination problematic, suggesting the coach used the prospect of a title to defend his approach without committing to the expectations that come with it.

According to Teklak, a team should be judged not only on a single result but on the cohesion, collective progress, and repeatability of performances. He concluded that a trainer who promotes a clear football vision must also be ready to be held accountable for delivering it.
