Amsterdam’s Ajax adds buy‑back clause to €500,000 Lommel deal
Tristan Gooijer, the 21‑year‑old right‑back, has now completed a move from Ajax in Amsterdam to Belgian side SK Lommel for a reported fee of €500,000, with Ajax retaining a buy‑back clause that could see him return for several million euros.
De reported earlier that the transfer appeared to have collapsed because the former PEC Zwolle loanee personally could not reach an agreement with the Belgian club. The newspaper now says an accord is imminent, quoting the player that “there is almost white smoke and the move seems set, possibly on a temporary basis.”
Lommel’s interest in the 21‑year‑old wing‑back stems from the chance to pair him with striker Don‑Angelo Konadu, who was this week loaned by Ajax to trainer Lee Johnson’s side. The Belgian side therefore secures a young defender to bolster its back line.
For Ajax, the €500,000 fee and a buy‑back clause that could bring Gooijer back for several million euros preserve a future option while generating immediate revenue. Lommel gains a promising right‑back ready to contribute in the Belgian league.
