Ambrosini says Inter’s gap widens, doubts Milan and Napoli
Standing in a buzzing stadium, Massimo Ambrosini, the long‑time face, admits the start of Serie A still crackles with electricity, saying he is “charged, excited and curious” as Inter defend their Italia title, while he finds certain things about Milan and Napoli “certe” that leave him perplexed.
Inter’s new season outlook
The adrenaline, he notes, will not be like that of a former player but the start of the Serie A still brings a particular electricity. “I am charged, excited and curious every time the season starts,” the former Milan star, now the face of , says, recalling his career with the maglia del Milan.
At 18:30 today Inter, champion of Italia, will face Monza, and Ambrosini answers the question “Is Inter still the team to beat?” with an emphatic “Absolutely.”
He adds that the arrivals of Stones, Spence and Curtis Jones may have even widened the gap with the other clubs.
Among the newcomers, Jones intrigues him most; the midfielder can cover the field and play vertically, and Ambrosini calls him “undoubtedly a great signing.”
Allegri wanted to sign Doumbia for Milan and Napoli, but Sporting have him
Ambrosini also praises a base of players who have played and won together for years, and he says the Nerazzurri management has built a hard core that can resist difficult moments, noting that Chivu earned applause.
A year ago it was said that with only 13 benches in Serie A it was a huge risk; Ambrosini points out that Chivu won, not only continuing Inzaghi’s work but also raising the press.
Milan’s uncertain project
He observes that Amorim wants to push the team 20 or 30 metres forward and that some progress is already visible, but he finds many undefined situations, especially the Leao issue, with Leao still the strongest player but on the market.
Cardinale has spent a lot, putting his face on the project, and Ramos is a nice striker, yet Ambrosini says Milan lacks a strong historical base and episodes such as extra vacation days for Maignan and Rabiot or the captain’s absence at Baresi’s funeral leave him perplexed.

Napoli’s value and ambitions
He rates Napoli as the squad with the highest value, noting that De Laurentiis made a guarantee choice with Max and that Allegri is a coach used to get the best from champions.
For Napoli to reach Inter’s level, Ambrosini says De Bruyne must make the difference, although the Belgian did not seem fully involved.
