Allegri blocks Cheddira’s Padova switch after club request
Napoli forward Walid Cheddira sees his potential move to Serie B side Padova halted after head coach Max Allegri asked the club to retain the striker, citing squad needs. The request comes after Cheddira’s recent loan spells at Dimaro and Castel di Sangro left the deal unfinished.
Allegri’s intervention directly blocked the transfer, keeping Cheddira on Napoli’s books. The striker was only a step away from finalising a deal with Padova, but his earlier temporary moves to Dimaro and then Castel di Sangro postponed the transaction.
TrivenetoGoal reports that negotiations between Napoli and Padova remain at a standstill. Allegri, after the injury to Lorenzo Lucca and the absence of Romelu Lukaku, requested the club to temporarily hold Cheddira, a move that has inevitably slowed the Padova talks.
Allegri wanted to sign Doumbia for Milan and Napoli, but Sporting have him
Sources say Cheddira gave his consent to the Padova switch roughly ten days ago, yet an agreement between Napoli director Manna and Padova’s Mirabelli has yet to materialise. The delay has left the striker’s future in limbo.
Interest from other clubs has largely evaporated. Frosinone, which was close to signing Hountondji, and Lecce, already completed the arrival of Geubbels, have stepped back, while Verona remains cautious regarding Mulattieri.
Consequently, Cheddira’s next steps remain on standby. The story surfaced on a Google Discover feed, highlighted under Fonti preferite and listed by Stampa with the tags A− and A+, underscoring the limited progress of the transfer.
