Alexia celebrates her 150 matches as Spain draws in Pennsylvania

Alexia Putellas opened her 150th match with the Spanish national team with a pass that released Salma Paralluelo and, after an assist, scored the first goal of the game; however, Spain finished level 2-2 against the United States at Subaru Park in Philadelphia in front of 18,648 spectators.

Bermúdez's tactical deployment

Coach Montse Bermúdez altered the lineup compared to Saturday’s friendly, introducing six changes: she gave minutes to Misa Rodríguez, Oihane Hernández, Andrea Medina, Clara Pinedo and Clara Serrajordi, and re‑incorporated Irene Paredes into the defence.

With four substitutions made, the formation kept the structure of the previous match, but Spain adjusted the pressure in key zones to make it harder for the ball to leave the goal defended by Misa Rodríguez.

Key actions of Alexia and her teammates

From her own half, Alexia delivered the pass that broke two United States lines and allowed Salma to advance; at the 13th minute, another delivery from Alexia set up Pinedo’s goal, which goalkeeper Phallon Tullis‑Joyce saved with a one‑on‑one stop.

Later, a triangular move left Serrajordi on the right wing; her cross was struck by Pinedo, and Alexia, with the composure of a double Ballon d'Or winner, scored to the far post, completing her goal and assist in 60 minutes of play.

United States' response and the conclusion

The United States, under the direction of Emma Hayes, made five changes and kept the pressure; Sophia Wilson got past Paredes, created a foul that VAR did not award, and the play ended with Ashley Sánchez in the box.

In the end, Michelle Cooper moved into the box and passed the ball to Mallory Swanson, who scored the equaliser in the 86th minute, sealing the draw.

The match, described by the EFE agency, showed a notable improvement by Spain in pressure and possession, although it failed to overcome the Olympic champions, who displayed their offensive power until the final whistle.
