Ajax’s young star Abdellah Ouazane earns €500,000 per season, Real Madrid remains interested

Abdellah Ouazane, the 17‑year‑old attacking midfielder, is reported by Salary Sport to earn a salary of around five hundred thousand euros per season at Ajax. The amount is central to the discussion about his future, now that both the club and Real Madrid are showing interest.

Breakthrough at Ajax and national call-up

The 2025/2026 season is already labeled by coach Míchel Sánchez as the year of Ouazane’s breakthrough. The Moroccan international, born in Amsterdam, has shown himself not only as a central midfielder but also as a left winger. Sánchez felt that he did not need another year with Jong Ajax and placed him directly in the first team.

At the national level, the creative youngster received a call-up from the Moroccan national team. After the Conference‑League play‑off between Ajax and FC Sion, he was approached in the Johan Cruijff Arena and made his debut for the Atlas Lions against Gabon.

Transfer rumours and Real Madrid interest

In the summer of 2025, Ouazane was close to a transfer to Real Madrid, but a medical examination in the Spanish capital fell through. Nevertheless, there are still reports from Spain that Real Madrid has not definitively ruled him out; it was reported that the club intends to contact Ajax technical director Jordi Cruijff soon.

Ajax, however, has indicated that the 17‑year‑old will not be allowed to leave for now. In an interview on AT5 with former player Hedwiges Maduro, it was advised that Ouazane “still needs to sign here” to create peace of mind and continue getting minutes.

Maduro also stated that “if Abdellah keeps going like this, he will really reach the top”. He emphasized that a contract extension at Ajax is the most logical step, given the current salaries of rivals: Oscar Gloukh earns one and a half million euros, while Steven Berghuis and Viktor Tsygankov each receive three million euros per season.

If Real Madrid shows interest again, Ajax will have to weigh whether a salary increase can retain the young talent or if a departure becomes inevitable. The coming weeks will reveal whether the €500,000 per season is enough to keep the 17‑year‑old in Amsterdam.
