Ajax's Mokio most expensive talent outside top leagues according to CIES
Ajax rank exceptionally high in a new study by the Swiss research institute CIES, which ranks the most valuable young talents outside the major European leagues. Midfielder Jorthy Mokio is listed in second place with an estimated transfer value of €52.9 million, directly behind Oskar Pietuszewski of FC Porto.
Mokio's €52.9 million valuation
CIES based its valuations on age, contract length, previous transfer fees, performance and minutes played, as well as the club's historical trading behavior. Excluding players from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, Mokio is in second place. Only Oskar Pietuszewski, with a value of €56.3 million, ranks higher.
Mateus Mané of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who has not played in any of Europe's top‑five leagues since relegation, completes the podium in third place.
Teammate Aaron Bouwman is estimated at €30.4 million, while Abdellah Ouazane of Ajax has a value of €7.5 million. In total, eight Eredivisie talents are in the top ten.
Noah Fernandez of PSV is valued at €21 million. Ruud Nijstad of FC Twente has an estimated value of €13.9 million, Thijs Kraaijeveld of Feyenoord €8 million, Lushendry Martes of Sparta Rotterdam €7.4 million and Mikkel Bro Hansen of PSV also €7.4 million.
The full top ten can be consulted on the CIES website, where further details about the young players are published.
