Ajax's Dies Janse files immediate transfer request
Central defender Dies Janse has lodged an immediate transfer request, a move that stunned observers when he turned out for Eerste Divisie side Jong Ajax on Monday evening. The Ajax player’s sudden departure bid follows a season on loan at FC Groningen.
Loan spell at FC Groningen
Last season Janse played on loan for FC Groningen, where, Bij de Trots van het Noorden, he made an excellent impression. However, a longer stay at Stadion Euroborg proved unattainable.
This summer Janse has not yet managed to secure a significant role in the Ajax-selectie under coach Míchel. The Dutch football community watches the situation with amazement.
Instead of facing SC Heerenveen, Janse was fielded against FC Emmen. The switch highlighted his uncertain standing within the club.
Fan reaction and transfer speculation
An Ajax supporter wrote on X: “Dies Janse a whole season sublime at FC Groningen and now in the starting lineup at Jong Ajax. What does that do to the motivation of such a boy? Would have left him a season at Groningen or another Eredivisie club. Why bring back when you have a surplus central?”
Another user asked, “Who will free Dies Janse from his suffering?” and added, “If I were Dies I would request a transfer.” A further comment suggested, “Should NEC simply approach Ajax to loan Dies Janse for one season? The defensive problem would be partially solved.”
The disbelief remains high, with remarks such as “Dies Janse last year a regular at FC Groningen, now rotting at Jong…” echoing across forums.
The transfer window remains open for more than two weeks, yet it is unclear whether the defender wishes to push for a (temporary) exit from Amsterdam.
There is also speculation that teammate Youri Baas may still leave Ajax, a development that could open more perspective for Janse, who has just returned from injury.
