Ajax lose Dolberg to season‑ending injury as Arokodare steps up
Ajax have been dealt a double blow and a bright spark: Danish striker Kasper Dolberg will miss the rest of the campaign after a serious knee injury, while loanee Tolu Arokodare is being thrust into the starting line‑up.
Dolberg suffered the injury while representing Denmark on international duty and has returned to Amsterdam for surgery, which was reported as successful. The 29‑year‑old forward now faces months of rehabilitation before aiming to play again next season.
Arokodare emerges as Ajax’s new attacking option
With Dolberg sidelined, Ajax are expected to give Wolves loanee Tolu Arokodare more minutes. The former Genk striker has already netted six goals and added two assists in nine Eredivisie and European appearances for Ajax.
In the 2024/2025 season Arokodare enjoyed his best spell, scoring 23 goals in 45 games for Genk. Replicating those figures could see Ajax back in the title race as the season draws to a close.
Dolberg’s contribution before his injury was three goals and three assists in nine matches, a solid start to the Eredivisie and European campaign.
Without the Danish forward, Ajax will rely on Arokodare’s form to maintain momentum in both domestic and continental competitions.
