Ajax draws again, leaving Feyenoord on top of the Eredivisie
Míchel Sánchez's Ajax slipped again after the international break, drawing 1-1 against NEC Nijmegen at the Johan Cruyff Arena, while Gio van Bronckhorst's Feyenoord moved to the top of the Eredivisie.
Before the international break, the Ajax side had drawn 2-2 against Excelsior in the same arena, showing difficulties in securing wins.
In Saturday's match, Tolu Arokodare opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a header. However, Tjaronn Chory converted a penalty against Ter Stegen in the 19th minute, leaving the score at 1-1 with no further changes.
With this point, Ajax remains fifth in the table, accumulating 15 points after eight rounds, unable to capitalize on the leader's defeat up to that point.
Feyenoord beats AZ and leads the standings
Feyenoord ousted AZ Alkmaar by beating them 2-0 at De Kuip, with goals from Nacho Ferri in the 13th minute and from Spanish Javi López, on loan from Real Sociedad, in the 60th minute.
After the victory, Feyenoord tops the Eredivisie with 20 points, a lead over PSV, who beat Heerenveen 2-0, and over AZ themselves.
