Ajax close to sealing Ukrainian forward Viktor Tsygankov for under €5m
Ajax are on the brink of securing Ukrainian forward Viktor Tsygankov, with a verbal agreement reported by De on Thursday evening and a three‑season contract prepared for the 28‑year‑old, still imminently pending final paperwork with his current club Girona.
De said Thursday evening that the Ukrainian (Oekraïense) attacker reached a verbal agreement with the Amsterdammers. The report both parties have settled the main terms of the move.
A contract covering three seasons is already drafted for the 28‑year‑old forward. The agreement will bind him to Ajax until 2029.
Contract ready, paperwork pending
The paperwork is currently being arranged, nothing stands in the way of his move to Ajax.
Ajax chase under‑€5m Tsygankov signing ahead of PSV clash
Technical director Jordi Cruijff has already discussed the transfer fee with Girona. The amount is reported to be under five million euros. Girona will retain a share of the player's future transfer rights.
Debut timing uncertain
De described it as “very doubtful” that Tsygankov will be available for Sunday’s match against Telstar. The club therefore does not expect him to feature in that fixture.
It is more likely that the Ukrainian forward will make his debut a week later, against rivals PSV. The timing gives him a chance to integrate before the high‑profile clash.
