Ajax close to loan deal for Wolves-paria Tolu Arokodare
Vandaag Ajax are reported to be close to finalising a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers-spits Tolu Arokodare, with the purchase clause exceeding the €20 million mark. Romano indicated that the final details of the loan are currently being worked out.
This is not the first time the name of Ajax has been linked with the Wolves-paria forward, but the transfer appears to be gaining momentum. The club are reportedly accelerating discussions to secure the striker.
Earlier this summer Ajax already splashed over twenty million euros for the Brazilian Marcos Leonardo, signing him from Al Hilal. In addition, the club still have Don-Angelo Konadu and Kasper Dolberg under contract, providing further striking options.
Arokodare’s contract with Wolverhampton runs until the summer of 2029. In the most recent season he contributed three goals and one assist for the Premier League side.
Before moving to England, the 25‑year‑old impressed at Belgian side KRC Genk between 2023 and 2025, earning a €26 million transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Last week the striker made headlines after an incident at the Wolves training complex led to the session being cancelled. New Wolves coach César Peixoto allegedly asked Arokodare to stop training with the first‑team squad, and when the player refused, the training was called off. Peixoto is said to have made clear that there is no tolerance for a lack of discipline.
De negotiations continue, and Ajax appear poised to complete the loan once the remaining clauses are settled, potentially adding a new dimension to their attacking line‑up.
