After a long injury, João Klauss scores his tenth goal in MLS

João Klauss scored his tenth goal of the season in Major League Soccer last night. This performance is all the more notable because he was sidelined with a foot injury from April to September.

From Standard to Major League Soccer

In Belgium, he stood out in Standard’s attack with nine goals and ten assists in forty‑seven matches under the direction of Mbaye Leye and Luka Elsner. Afterwards, he was less present on the Saint‑Trond side.

In 2022, the owning club Hoffenheim transferred him permanently to Saint‑Louis in Major League Soccer for more than three million euros. The deal quickly paid off.

Since his arrival, he has scored twenty‑seven goals in eighty‑five matches with the Saint‑Louis club. Last winter, this status opened the door to a prestigious transfer to Los Angeles Galaxy.

However, the Brazilian does not seem particularly impressed. This season, he already has ten goals in sixteen Major League Soccer matches, as well as one goal and two assists in Ligue des champions de la CONCACAF.

His tally would have been much higher had he not been sidelined with a foot injury for at least five months. Last night, he again allowed Los Angeles to take the lead as early as the tenth minute against Austin. The rest of the attacking quarter, consisting of Joseph Paintsil, Hirving Lozano and Marco Reus, then consolidated the 4‑1 victory, with Reus providing three assists.
