Adi Htter backs Lawrence Setordjie for Frankfurt debut on Friday
Lawrence Setordjie, the 18‑year‑old former Accra Lions captain, will make his senior Eintracht Frankfurt debut in Friday’s friendly against Braunschweig, with Head Coach Adi Htter set to deploy the midfielder at No.10 alongside Mario Gtze as part of the club’s international‑break preparations.
Training breakthrough
During Thursday’s first‑team training, Setordjie impressed the coaching staff, leaving a lasting impression on Head Coach Adi Htter. The session saw the midfielder integrated into senior drills, where his technical ability stood out.
The 18‑year‑old is one of seven U21 players invited to train with the senior squad during the international break. Their inclusion aims to bridge the gap between youth prospects and the first team.
Throughout various exercises, Setordjie consistently offered himself as a passing option in the attacking zone, netting goal after goal. His movement and vision provided a creative spark for the side.
His first goal in the session was a spectacular overhead, or scissor‑kick, that curled into the top corner, drawing applause from teammates.
A challenge later saw Setordjie collapse to the ground, visibly in pain. After brief ankle treatment and encouraging words from Coach Htter, he rejoined the training drill, demonstrating resilience.
