£70m price tag looms as Liverpool Reds pursue Minteh

Victor Munoz, loanee Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jaquet are the only recent arrivals confirmed to start for LIVERPOOL against the Magpies. These three will be joined by the existing core as the Reds seek to adapt to the Andoni Iraola era.

Sport Brighton have set an asking price of over £70 million for Yankuba Minteh, according to club statements. Liverpool’s first offer of £50 million was rejected, and a second bid that added £10 million still failed to meet the Seagulls’ demands.

Transfer bids and price demands

Chris Burns Senior Sports Writer05:00, 23 Aug 2026 reported that two Liverpool bids for Minteh have been turned down, with the latest figure still short of Brighton’s target. The Seagulls are holding out for £70 million “in excess of with add‑ons”, as quoted by David Ornstein on the After Foot podcast.

Liverpool are also pursuing PSG winger Bradley Barcola, whose club reportedly wants £145 million for the French talent. Verbal proposals have been submitted, but a formal written offer in the region of £111 million to £128 million is expected before the September 1 deadline.

Next steps and potential hurdles

Ornstein warned that if the numbers surrounding the Gambian national are “not right”, Liverpool may look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements. The club must also consider the price gap highlighted by Brighton, which could force a decision before the Premier League season kicks off.

With the season opener at St James' Park looming, the Reds hope to conclude at least one of these deals to bolster their line‑up. Any delay could leave Andoni Iraola without his preferred options as Liverpool confront the Magpies on Sunday.
