€6 million spark: Wolfsburg lock in Damar to revamp midfield

Official VfL Wolfsburg have secured 22‑year‑old attacking midfielder Muhammed Damar for a reported €6 million, signing him to a contract that runs until 2031, after both clubs agreed on the fee and the move sees him leave Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for Wolfsburg.

The signing strengthens Wolfsburg’s midfield options as the club seeks to boost its attacking play. Damar’s arrival adds a new dimension to the team’s creative output.

Sporting director Pirmin Schwegler said Damar was on the radar of several clubs because of his qualities. He expressed pleasure that the player chose Wolfsburg, highlighting his game intelligence, movement between the lines and ability to find creative solutions under pressure.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Damar can also operate in central midfield and on the left wing, giving Wolfsburg tactical flexibility. His versatility allows the coach to adjust formations without sacrificing quality.

Before the move, the 22‑year‑old made 21 league appearances for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. He also spent time on loan in the 2. Bundesliga with Hannover and Elversberg, where he showcased his abilities.

Upon joining Wolfsburg, Damar said: “The plan, the environment and the coaching staff convinced me that VfL is the right club for me. I can’t wait to get started.”

Wolfsburg now look forward to integrating Damar into the squad as the season progresses. The club expects his presence to enhance the team’s attacking dynamics.
