€40 million price tag drives AC Milan’s chase for Bayer Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza
Valued at around €40 million, Bayer Leverkusen’s Algerian attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza has become the centrepiece of AC Milan’s latest transfer push, with the Serie A club intensifying talks the week after fresh negotiations were opened with his representatives at Stellar again.
Daniele Longo reported that Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim is keen on signing the attacking midfielder. Amorim wants to strengthen that position in his side.
The Rossoneri have admired Ibrahim Maza since his spell at Hertha Berlin. Milan see his development in Berlin as a key indicator of his potential.
Last summer, talks were held but Leverkusen signed the Algerian at that point. The club secured the player for the upcoming season.
Roma eye Leao as Milan splurge over €50m on Moreira
Fresh negotiations have now been opened with the player’s entourage at Stellar. The discussions also involve Rafael Leao and his possible move to Fenerbahce.
Leverkusen’s demands are proving problematic, as they view Maza as an important player for next season. They value him at around €40 million.
The two clubs could meet in the next few days to explore further negotiations. A meeting would clarify whether Milan can meet the German side’s valuation.
Milan need players who can operate in tight spaces and open games up, a profile Amorik himself has praised in Samuel Chukwueze. Maza could fill that role when Leao departs.
