€40 million fee sets new Belgian record as Arsenal land Christos Tzolis
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of 24‑year‑old Greek winger Christos Tzolis for a €40 million fee from Club Brugge KV, establishing a new Belgian transfer record and underscoring the Premier League side’s investment in attacking talent. The deal, announced on Tuesday, will see the player join the North London club for multiple seasons.
The transfer makes Tzolis the official successor to Leandro Trossard, who departed Arsenal for Besiktas earlier this summer. Trossard’s exit left a vacancy on the wing that Arsenal hope Tzolis will fill.
Arsenal announced a long‑term contract that reportedly runs until mid‑2031, guaranteeing the player’s services for several seasons in North London. The length of the deal reflects the club’s confidence in his future contributions.
During his two seasons at Club Brugge KV, Tzolis appeared in 108 official matches, scoring 43 goals and providing 45 assists. Those figures illustrate the productivity that justified the €40 million fee.
The Greek international has earned 34 caps for his country and was named Player of the Year in the Jupiler Pro League last season. The individual honour highlights his impact on Belgian football.
Before moving to Belgium, Tzolis spent the 2022/23 campaign with FC Twente after a loan spell from Norwich City, gaining valuable Eredivisie experience. That season contributed to his development ahead of the transfer to Club Brugge.
The sale represents the most expensive outgoing transfer in Club Brugge KV’s history and the first time a Belgian club has received such a sum for a player. The record amount underscores the financial significance of the deal for Belgian football.
